Fiscal Responsibility
Turned a $7M debt into a $75M surplus while balancing the city budget annually. His strategic leadership secured $272M in capital improvements and $76M in grants, earning national fiscal stewardship awards. Craft’s vision ensures Gulf Shores remains a thriving, financially stable community.
Smart Growth
Reduced residential development by over 8,300 units through strategic rezoning, prioritizing single-family homes and open spaces. He spearheaded infrastructure projects like a new pedestrian bridge, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and the Intracoastal Waterway bridge to ease traffic.
Investments in Education
Established Gulf Shores City Schools, the first independent system in Baldwin County, with innovative programs in marine biology and STEM. This effort ensures students in Gulf Shores receive the best education possible and invest local dollars in local schools.
Community Safety
Built a free-standing emergency department, created a 40-acre Medical Village, and constructed new fire stations to enhance healthcare and safety. His leadership ensures modern and robust public safety services for all residents.
Beach Access
Craft created Gulf Place, a vibrant beachfront district, and secured new public access points, solidifying Gulf Shores as a premier coastal destination for years to come.
Environmental Assets
Led the $135M Gulf State Park redevelopment and protected 800+ acres in the Bon Secour watershed with $9.8M in funding. Initiatives like the Little Lagoon Restoration and Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism serve to keep Gulf Shores' environmental assets protected.
